BEAM Travels to China – International Experiences That Endure
BEAM students from the English Institute in Heidelberg traveled to China together with our founder, Steffen Haschler, and the school administration. The trip offered the students unique insights into business, education, and international cooperation. A particular highlight was the visit to the ProMinent facility in Lingang (Shanghai), where the group gained fascinating insights into a globally successful company based in the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region. Together with their Chinese hosts, the students exchanged ideas on innovation, entrepreneurship, and international cooperation. BEAM is expanding in the Stuttgart area — with support from the Karl Schlecht Foundation
We are very pleased to announce that the sparks4school Foundation has received a grant from the Karl Schlecht Foundation (KSG) for the BEAM (Business Entrepreneurship And Math) program. With this grant, BEAM can be implemented and expanded at additional schools in the Stuttgart area. This will give even more students the opportunity to develop entrepreneurial thinking, practical skills for the future, and personal strengths directly within the school setting. Entrepreneurship: Number of BEAM schools to more than double by 2026/27
BEAM (Business Entrepreneurship And Math) is a seminar course in Year 12 at grammar schools in Baden-Württemberg. For over a year, pupils work in small groups to develop their first start-up idea. Input is provided by external experts. This idea, which Steffen Haschler, co-founder of SPARKS, adopted from BEAM-USA and adapted to local conditions, is a success story: he started it at his school, the English Institute in Heidelberg, over a decade ago.
